Easter Egg Rolling

Hours: 10.30am-1pm

There's no point going to the Easter Egg Rolling event at Shotover Park unless you take a painted hard-boiled egg and enter it for at least one of the competitions, which include Best Painted Egg and the messy Demolition Derby.

The Demolition Derby involves chucking the eggs down a slope (planted with obstacles) and collecting those sturdier ones that have reached the bottom uncracked. Those still intact are chucked down again, and the process is repeated until the toughest egg wins the race.

Other attractions include a stall selling organic eggs and egg-related produce, such as chickens.
